Mae\u2019n cael ei argymell i ryw 50% o\u2019r holl gleifion canser. Mae\u2019n gyfrifol am 40% o bob iach\u00e2d, ac mae\u2019n gost-effeithiol iawn (5% o gostau gofal canser). Er hynny, mae ei effeithiolrwydd wedi\u2019i gyfyngu gan docsicedd ymbelydredd \u00efoneiddio i\u2019r meinwe normal, a gall ei effeithiau fod yn llym (oriau i wythnosau ar \u00f4l y driniaeth) a chronig (misoedd i flynyddoedd). Gall yr effeithiau hwyr fod yn ddifrifol iawn a chael dylanwad mawr ar ansawdd bywyd goroeswyr canser, a hynny flynyddoedd ar \u00f4l y driniaeth.<\/p>\n<p>Gyda mwy o bobl yn goroesi canser, mae niwed oherwydd ymbelydredd cronig yn bryder gofal iechyd cynyddol. Ar hyn o bryd, mae dosiau radiotherapi yn cael eu diffinio\u2019n gyffredinol fel bod llai na 5% o gleifion yn dioddef tocsicedd hwyr difrifol.<\/p>\n<p>Nod y prosiect hwn yw canfod biofarcwyr posibl ar gyfer rhagdueddiad i niwed ymbelydredd cronig mewn cleifion canser sy\u2019n cael radiotherapi.
