Interpreting the Past through Technology

At Cae’r Gors in Rhosgadfan, North Wales, a project is underway in collaboration with Bangor University to ensure that a crucial part of our shared history is not only preserved, but brought to life for all to experience. PhD student Diane Jones has meticulously catalogued the hundreds of items that make up the collection at the former home of one of the foremost Welsh-language authors of the twentieth century, Kate Roberts.

Diane has created an online database with images, descriptions and interpretation that provides a fantastic learning resource, accessible to anyone. The cataloguing of these items has also enabled the team at Cae’r Gors to develop the visitor experience in the house and garden itself to such an extent that it is now truly absorbing and sensory both on and offline.
